First of all I would like to state that my current energy-level is far below zero. For some reason I can’t figure out, my phone decided it’d be fun to time travel. So, as my alarm goes off at 7 this morning and I get out of bed to get dressed, I notice it’s darker than usual. But still, it’s 7 AM so my brain isn’t functioning yet. I start to doubt myself, and start asking people at home what time it is, so I can compare it with local time. At 7 in the morning there’s not a lot of people awake in my dorm. Weird, I know. Turns out it was 6 AM and I got up an hour early. Result:

The Party
As I told you last week, the guys graduated as instructors so we all went out for a drink. Before the night began, Wil and I went out to dinner so the new instructors could celebrate with their instructors. It started out with Wil being slightly intoxicated and being determined to get me the same way. He really doesn’t know how to handle his booze.

We started out at “Roof Bar”, which is a bar for scuba divers. Why don’t we have those at home? You get to meet a lot of fellow scuba divers, it’s a lot of fun. Naturally, we started out with lemonade and I went to bed at 9. Because I was raised to be a responsible adult and I never drink and dive. See?

For those not familiar with sarcasm, it was a joke. They started out with tequila shots, and for some reason, I had to join them. And those that know me, know I really really hate tequila (no sarcasm). It’s the devil in a drink. It’s a mystery to me why people like that stuff. And as you can tell from the picture, it’s Vale’s favorite drink too.
After a few beers and laughs, it was time to put our dancing shoes on. There was a “good” DJ playing at Blue Parrot, a club that I’d heard a lot about but never been to, so we decided to go. Well, not we, them. I had to dive the next morning so I wanted to go to bed. As the guys are entering the club, Lily and I head home. On our way home, I tell her that I actually really want to stay. So she YOLO’d me. What can I say? It worked. We went to Blue Parrot, didn’t see the DJ because he started out really late and eventually ended up going home not that much later. A lot of money and not that much fun was invested in that place. But I mean, YOLO, right?
Mama Vina
Like I said, I had a dive the next morning. And not just any dive, a wreck dive. A wreck dive with Al, a combat diver. I did not want to get on his bad side, yikes. So after sleeping four hours, I got up, got my bathing suit on and went to the shop. There’s no end to my energy when it comes to diving.
Those two dives were AMAZING. There was a lot of current so we almost “missed the boat” by floating passed it. BUT, we didn’t. Mama Vina is an old shrimp boat that was sunk in 1995. Ever since it’s become an artificial reef with a big-ass green moray eel living on it. For those interested, here is YouTube video of the wreck: Mama Vina.
As for our dive, I got some good shots of the wreck. We didn’t get to go into the captain’s cabin BUT we’re going again this week. Not that I’m complaining, we did swim through the wreck and ended up in the moray eel’s territory. He was huge. The pictures don’t really show how big-ass he actually was.
Look at that picture of Wil. It looks like I caught him with his hand in a cookie jar.
After the wreckdive, we did a driftdive. It was just great. The current was strong so we just floated for the entire dive. Amaze balls, no joke. It’s like you’re flying.
The Rest Of The Week
For some reason I’m having a hard time remembering what I did this week. My brain’s turned into mashed potatoes.
I went on some more shark dives, assisted on another Advanced Course and we went on a nightdive. Last time I didn’t get any pictures of the nightdive, this time I some thanks to Gian. I should become an underwaterscubadivermodel. I look great in these pictures. Good genes, I guess.
On Wednesday, I did a DSD all by myself. I’m growing up so fast, unbelievable. A month ago I could barely walk and now I’m guiding people and teaching them how to dive all by myself. P.O. was there of course, in case I would drown the customer of lose him underwater. Luckily, I didn’t. The DSD was the last thing I had to do for my divemaster. The only thing left was the exam.
Besides diving, I spent a lot of time taking selfies with all my friends. Because I’m popular and awesome and funny. One of the guys at the hostel left, so we had to make a farewell picture. As for all the other selfies: I don’t have excuses.
The Exam
People who know me, know I freak out about exams. I always think I’m going to fail but I (almost) never do. The same for this one. I got really stressed out and didn’t want to take it, but eventually P.O.’s patience was running low so I took the exam on Saturday. And, I passed. With 88%. I might as well have failed. 88%, what a terrible score. I WANTED AT LEAST 90 OKAY???
After the exam, I posted a picture on facebook saying “I’M A DIVEMASTER”. It didn’t last long. I still have to take my snorkeltest, of which I was reminded several times yesterday. I don’t know what scares me more: Mathi of the snorkeltest. He keeps getting out his red Captain Morgan hat and stroking it like a cat. With a creepy-ass killer clown smile. It’s haunting me in my dreams.
Naturally, we wen out to celebrate. We had a few beers, some nachos, you know, Mexican stuff. After the bar we went to Wil’s new place. Oh-EM-GEE. I think I might move there. It has a rooftop!!! To be fair, so does my hostel, but it’s not the same. It’s a private rooftop. Just for him. And me, because I’m moving there. I don’t care what he says.
Today I was diving with Al, again. So I went home early, again. Because I didn’t want to get on Al’s bad side, again. As Gian and I started walking home from Wil’s, it started raining. Not even just rain anymore, poring rain. With buckets out of heaven (makethatthecatwise). After standing in a supermarket for 10 minutes, we decided to run to a bar and have another drink. Eventually it was 1 AM before I was in bed. And then the whole timetravel phone thing happened, which is why my current state is exhaustion.
Today
Today was exhausting. The every day diving is getting to me. Combine that with little sleep and you’ll end up half dead as well. Even the guy at my favorite soup/salad bar said I looked bad. Thanks Raoul. A small salad and soup to go please.
Now that my divemaster is finished, I get to choose what dives I do. Which is a lot of fun! Tomorrow I’m going sharkdiving, on Tuesday Gian and I are going to Mama Vina again and on Wednesday I’m going to a cenote with Wil and his friend. On Thursday Gian and I are FINALLY going diving in Cozumel. I can’t wait. I feel like I’m missing out on so much.
Somewhere this week, when Wil finishes his divemaster, we’re taking the snorkeltest. Together. You better drink a whole lot of they’re gonna give us, buddy. Don’t worry, I’ll get you some pictures.
Can’t believe this is my last week. I don’t want to talk about it, it’s gonna make me cry.
Write you soon.
